The Spark Of An Idea

The year is 2007 and in the dusty desert of Black Rock City, two large-scale art projects have a chance encounter. Daisy; a fifteen foot tall solar powered tricycle and Mondo Spider; a robot with eight articulated limbs and one human pilot. The two projects meet, and an idea materializes – why not found an organization to create more large scale-art, kinetic art? And thus, eatART was born.

eatART is an acronym that stands for Energy Awareness Through art. As a charity organization, we support the creation of large-scale, technically sophisticated art that invites viewers to question the social and environmental impact of energy consumption.

Projects developed at eatART are utilized as educational opportunities for volunteers looking to develop skills in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics), project management, grant writing, and green technology. After project development is complete, the art is then showcased to the public to prompt conversations regarding energy use.
